Confusion with time of day.

Hi Guys,
When I'm working on a route that is in another time zone, ie: I'm in Pacific time and the route starts out in Mountain time, in the route dialog box it shows my local Pacific time but when I click on the route itself in the map it shows Mountain time. This makes it really confusing when determining lunch stops, etc. Is there a way to have the dialog box always show the local route time same as when clicking on the map?

Thanks,
Marc

Thanks, but that doesn't cover it. I'm trying to figure out how to get the BC route dialog box to take into consideration time zones like the route does when clicking on it via the map.

When I click on any route via the map there is a three hour difference with the times shown on the route dialog. If that is what you are seeing then that is not due to time zones, it's due to a bug that was reported a few days ago and a case for it has been opened.

Mine does a similar thing but I determined that the times when clicking on the route via the map are in reality time zone adjusted times. It even takes into consideration the fact that AZ doesn't recognize DST while the Indian reservations within AZ do. As an example, I'm in CA and when clicking on CA map routes the times are correct and are the same in the dialog box. If I click on a route in Colorado the map shows one hour later as it should while the dialog box still shows my time. Can you tell me what time zone you are in and what time zone the routes you are clicking are in. Are they in the same time zone? If so, we have different problems.

It could indeed be a different problem then, I dunno. I'm on GMT -4:00.

I just looked at one of my CA routes, from San Diego to Joshua Tree. The dialog says departure 09:00, arrive 15:24... the popup (clicked on map ~one minute after departure) says 06:01, arrive 12:24.

There's that three hour difference I was talking about and I get that on all routes, no matter what time zone I travel through.

That's exactly the same as mine and your map click is correct. You're on the east coast so EDT which is 3 hours ahead of out west coast time which is PDT. So the dialog box is using EDT which is your local time and 09:00. The map click is using PDT which is 3 hours earlier or 06:00. That is exactly what mine is doing. To reiterate, the dialog box is using whatever your computer is set for and the the map click is compensating for the time zone. The point I am making is that the Garmin folks need to have the dialog box show the same as the map click otherwise it is too confusing. Try this, make a local route in your timezone and then check the dialog box and the map click and see if they match. If they don't then we have a separate problem. See what I mean?

If I change the PC system time the dialog and the popup times are exactly the same as before the change, so my case is different. I'll wait for the developers to fix the bug. When they do I'm sure most if not all of these weird time differences will go away.
