Categories - saved places (Waypoints)

I have around 2,500 waypoints that I assigned categories to in BaseCamp. Some of these category names I wish to change and I can change them on the PC, but when I download the Waypoint File to the Garmin 2689 the unused category names will still show up in the 'saved' menu (and are empty) and the new category names will also show up (filled with the waypoint names). Question: How do I erase ALL category names for saved Waypoints from the PC and from the GPS?

This has become a frustrating problem. I have tried:

1) Performing a factory reset on the GPS
2) Uninstalled BaseCamp and found most of the remaining parts and deleted them.
3) Reinstalled BaseCamp.

The problem still remains.

You need to understand that BaseCamp cannot access data directly on your nuvi, that's just the way nuvis work and has nothing to do with BaseCamp.

To achieve what you want first delete (using the menu on your nuvi) all your waypoint data, having copied any you want to keep into BaseCamp. Now delete all the .gpx files in the GPX folder of your nuvi. Boot the nuvi and confirm all the waypoints (favourites or saved places) have gone.

Now send the data you want to send from BaseCamp and then all should be as you want. Once you've confirmed it is all correct delete the temp.gpx file created by BaseCamp in the GPX folder of your nuvi.

Yes, Nuvi data can only be edited directly on the Nuvi once it's on there. What I do personally at home is remove everything on my Nuvi, make any changes I want in BaseCamp, and dump it all back on the device fresh again. Make sure before removing anything from your Nuvi you have backups of everything you need. But BaseCamp is not capable of editing things directly on the Nuvi.

How does one access the GPX folder of the NUVI?

Through Windows Explorer or similar.
