Thank you all in advance for any feedback you may have.
  • Wow. Fascinating. In fact, you don't have to actually get to the "copy", if you have the "position" field data selected and just hit CTRL as a prelude to CTRL-C, it recalcs all routes containing that waypoint. Wait, in fact, if you just put the editing bar in that field and just do a right or left arrow to move the cursor, it recalcs! However, once it goes through that routine once, it will not do it again, even after turning BC off then back on. Bizarre!

Problem solved.......Used export feature to save data as gpx for safe keeping. Uninstalled base camp, deleted leftover folders BaseCamp in C:/program files(x86)/Garmin/ , and in C:/users/me/appdata/roaming/Garmin/. Restarted computer (Important) and reinstalled BaseCamp_447.exe. I used my latest backup file and restored program to normal working order. Pryor to this I could not backup or restore.

I have been able to reproduce this issue with the copy of the lat and on. Thank you for the feedback. I will open a case.
  • The latest version of basecamp isn't finding Google Earth or Google Earth Pro.

How is it looking for it?

This is on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

The error message isn't helpful. It should show the path it is expecting it in.

It does find either Earth running.

It apparently it will use a running Earth Pro but it requires Earth to also be installed (forcing Earth Pro users to also install Earth).
  • Finds it in Win7 without issue. Have you tried uninstalling both programs then reinstalling? I once had an issue after a GE update and that resolved it.
  • Have you tried uninstalling both programs then reinstalling?

This is a silly thing to have to do. It's OK as a work around but, if it works that way, it's still broken.

The error message should indicate how it's trying to find it.
  • Well as I said it resolved it for me a while back. Your call :)

It's good to have a way around it but it's still a bug.

Does this get Earth Pro (without Earth also being installed) to work?

To test that, it requires uninstalling Basecamp, uninstalling Earth, reainstalling Basecamp. If that doesn't work, it's another uninstall of Basecamp, another install of Earth, and another install of Basecamp. That's a lot of work to deal with a simple-to-fix bug! And it still won't use Earth Pro cleanly.

Anyway, there are actually three (at least) bugs:

    1) Basecamp can't launch Google Earth if Basecamp has been installed before Google Earth (though it finds a running version).

    2) Basecamp can't use Google Earth Pro unless Google Earth is also installed. It should be able to use just Pro. (If Earth is installed, it will find a running version of Pro.)

    3) The error message is wrong. It indicates that Google Earth is not installed when it is, in fact, installed.
The error message should say "Can't find <path> to Google Earth" where <path> is where it expecting Google Earth to be located. I suspect that <path> is not defined as anything unless Google Earth is installed first.

If Basecamp is supposed to be installed after Google Earth (which is weird), the error message could say that.

It's possible that the options should allow users to indicate the path to look for Google Earth in. That way, users could avoid having to reinstall Basecamp.

Well as I said it resolved it for me a while back. Your call :)

It didn't work for me. At this point, I'd say it's not really worth trying.

    ===========================

If people have the problem, it appears that the most-reliable workaround (not a fix) is to run Earth or Earth Pro before running Basecamp (and you need Earth whether or not use use Earth Pro).

I am several issues with my (new to me) BMW Nav V and BaseCamp 4.4.7 (Windows version running under Windows 8.1). I am curious to know if anyone else is seeing these issues, or to know if the developers have any insights into the issues.

    Issue 1:

BaseCamp does not seem to be properly recognizing the Nav V. Sometimes, BaseCamp will stop responding and freeze, forcing me to close the program. Upon restarting BaseCamp, I am forced to disconnect the Nav V, close and restart BaseCamp again, and then reconnect the Nav V in order for it to be recognized again.

    Issue 2:

The Nav V (and the micro-SD card I have loaded into the Nav V) will display in the Collections pane. However, when I try to send something (a waypoint or route, for example) to the device using the Device | Send to Device menu, no device can be found by the program. This also results in BaseCamp freezing, forcing me to restart the program and disconnect the Nav V for it to be recognized again. I am able to click-and-drag items to the Nav V entry in the Collections pane for transferring items; however, I never see an animation to indicate the item has been transferred to the device.

    Issue 3:

Selecting the Nav V or it's SD card in the Collections pane does not result in showing anything (waypoints, routes, or tracks) on the device.
