    Hello!

In the new Version 4.4.7, can I turn off the annoying popups now, when you hold your mouse over a point on the card? This is a long-awaited feature!
    Whats about this?

    Kind regards, Maiskolben

PS: This Vid shows exactly what I mean!

  • Works fine except UK address search still not working correctly, but then it hasn't worked correctly for ages. Seems a simple enough thing to fix, my nuvis, Etrex and Montana just need postcode and number to establish the full address, as do most websites that ask for address details when ordering goods etc.

Basecamp will take the postcode and give some random number in the correct road, but if you enter the postcode and the number you get 'No results found'. Very frustrating since Mapsource still does it all correctly

It should be possible also, to have alle the information from the annoying popups in a right block, or as a fixed overlay on the map, just like the good software QLandkarte do! The Basecamp popups are very very annoying when you plan and edit a route, there must be a option to get rid of these!

As the moderator has repeated much the same comments as he made in the earlier thread concerning this release, so do I.

In response to DaveA who enquired: "Almost four months work and that's all that was changed or fixed?"

    I responded:-

My sentiments exactly, particularly with regard to the UK address search that the moderator refers to. As he says, this defect has been raised repeatedly since BC was introduced and although we regularly see on this forum that a 'case' has been opened on other issues, there is no information, no feedback and most importantly, no action on this issue.

If the moderator cannot produce any action or information I have little hope of a response but I ask again publicly: Could we have an authoritative statement from Garmin as to when we might expect this issue to be fixed?

As this issue is now raised by the moderator and seconded by me in a 'formal' release thread started by JM47048, may I invite him to respond with a clear statement about when (i.e. with particularity, not "... sometime, hopefully soon ...") we may expect UK address search to work properly?

Thus far the inaction and deathly hush speaks volumes.
  • I've been called pretty cynical in the past but I truly think they are leaving the popups just because they know it annoys the user. I guess some developer came up with the idea and refuses to let his baby go.
Remember, we're the developers and we know what's best.

I'm not sure what the popups are all about as I have not noticed any. However, one thing that has ticked me off in the last few versions of Basecamp is how the purple line representing a route/trip (whatever you want to call it) path totally covers highway markers on the map. That makes it really lousy when reviewing a route to make sure it's doing what I want before sending it to the GPS unit.

If you are referring to the width of the line it can be adjusted in Options.

Even with the route line at the thinnest setting it still blocks highway numbers from being visible. The highway markers should not be UNDER the line but above (or alongside) it.

Agreed. This has also been a long standing issue.

Just installed 4.4.7, guess what, still taking ages to boot up, not responding message (as usual). am I the only person who thinks Basecamp is utter tosh and want to go back to the older software that wasn't broken so didn't need fixing.
