Anybody been brave enough to download it yet?
  • Yep. Works fine except UK address search still not working correctly, but then it hasn't worked correctly for ages. Seems a simple enough thing to fix, my nuvis, Etrex and Montana just need postcode and number to establish the full address, as do most websites that ask for address details when ordering goods etc.

Basecamp will take the postcode and give some random number in the correct road, but if you enter the postcode and the number you get 'No results found'. Very frustrating since Mapsource still does it all correctly
  • Almost four months work and that's all that was changed or fixed?

My sentiments exactly, particularly with regard to the UK address search that the moderator refers to. As he says, this defect has been raised repeatedly since BC was introduced and although we regularly see on this forum that a 'case' has been opened on other issues, there is no information, no feedback and most importantly, no action on this issue.

If the moderator cannot produce any action or information I have little hope of a response but I ask again publicly: Could we have an authoritative statement from Garmin as to when we might expect this issue to be fixed?

I have installed BaseCamp 4.4.7 with a Nuvi 56 supporting only CNNA NT 2015.2. This USA map version does seem to find addresses by Number, Street, and Postal (Zip) Code, but only if selected correctly in available dropdown menus. These address entries are case sensitive (upper and lower) and may need to be entered exactly as stored in the map database by clicking on the dropdown listing.

As to random nearby street names appearing for a different zip code when searching, yes that happens with this USA map as well, until the Garmin logic is followed exactly while entering data. It is possible to enter the Postal Code twice, and doing so will not work.

Basecamp connected to the Nuvi 56 has not mutually hung up or crashed for several sessions, either with BC 4.4.6 or 4.4.7. I am becoming of the opinion that it does not matter which activity profile, including Motorcycle, or which type of road avoidance one chooses for routing in BC, the two digit Nuvis will recalculate using device navigation settings almost immediately.

Add Edit: After downloading a "supplemental" map of Ireland, my copy of BC seemed to require one or more leading blanks in front of what seems to be the single digit Postal Code of a randomly chosen street address that had sufficient data to give it a try.

I thought that the later versions of Basecamp would download the latest update and ask you if you wanted to install it when you next fired it up. Not on my Windows 8.1 laptop with 4.4.6
  • The 4.4.7 update also was not offered from within Basecamp 4.4.6 on my old Vista laptop. I had to click on the above link ... then updated without issue.

I agree with the above and it's the same with Basecamp 4.4.6 running on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
