I bought a Garmin Oregon 550 gps. was sold and stoked to be able to look at maps and tracks on the computer, etc. Got help to download and install some declassified topo map, which worked great, had to use the Garmin "Basecamp" software to install to handheld, old computer crashed, got new one, new one (with new basecamp (and heritage older version) will not load the map from either my handheld or the open-source topo map site. I am reluctant to just throw more money at the problem (buy Garmin's proprietary map). Is there another way to use my handheld gps and another open-source software to manage data from/to the handheld?
