Hi everyone,
I have a GPSMAP64 with a 64GB SD card installed which I have filled with BirdsEye images downloaded through BaseCamp.
This means, that the downloaded images takes op 64GB of disk space in the "%AppData%\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp\JnxFiles" folder and furthermore the images takes up the same amount of space in "%AppData%\Local\Garmin\BaseCamp\DeviceCache\[Some ID]\JnxFiles" folder - the device cache. Whenever this folder is deleted is (very slowly) recreated when the device is plugged in again.
Currently I have disabled the device cache by filling up the folder with empty read only files with the same file names as the one on the device which prevents the cache from taking up any disk space. The down side is that BaseCamp is unable to show the maps on the unit :-(
Does anyone know of a better solution?
It should be quite easy to show the map outline in BaseCamp without downloading the complete image. Of course if you need/want to use the images in BaseCamp they should be downloaded but downloading 64GB of images should not be done by default.
