Base camp does not communicate with the device (nuvi 56). I have tried to sent info from Basecamp to the device but (1.) Basecamp does not detect device or (2) Base camp stops working. ??? Everything work fine for 1 yr....what happened?
Hi, this morning basecamp see's my device. I tried to manage the device but application stops and freezes up. Any ideas what's going on. My O/S is win7. ??????
Yesterday the Nuvi 56 connected to Windows BaseCamp well enough to transfer one new BaseCamp created "Waypoint" to the "empty" Nuvi 56 32GB mini SD memory card as a rather large and ?all inclusive? gpx file.
This waypoint was automatically copied from SD card gpx file to the Nuvi 56 internal memory, albeit with the original waypoint symbol and symbol name unused. That waypoint is now searchable in the Nuvi 56 in standalone mode and looks like other "waypoints" created on the device as viewed in visible attribute fields. The computer crashed badly yesterday when I tried to disconnect the Nuvi 56.
Today I tried to create and transfer a second waypoint in BaseCamp for transfer to the Nuvi 56. This adventure failed, even after I commenced deleting gps files and folders on the SD card. Admittedly, I do not know my way around BaseCamp Adventures very well, so I decided to terminate the process for the time being, although I had finally gotten the BC Adventure menu structure to permit creation of another waypoint.
Hello Windows Task Manager!!! At a minimum, there is a need to be able to eject the Nuvi 56 device without crashing the Windows Computer. If there is such a method, I have not found it - but rarely read directions. Thanks for listening. I will return to operating the device in standalone mode.
I installed an earlier version but I lost all folders I had. Restoring my current back-up cause BC to crash. I guess I will have to wait for a Garmin fix....hey, I'm 67 so don't take too long.
You'll need to do an export/import of your Basecamp data, or rename your Basecamp folder to see your folders etc in Basecamp. What version of BC did you go back to?
