BirdsEye resolution differnce between adjacent tiles

Here is an example of a vast difference in image quality for adjacent tiles, downloaded within hours of each other. The dividing line of the tile is the vertical blue line. The one on the right has already been deleted and is the second download but gave the same result as the first.

Are there any tips as to why this occurs? The background map in this case is City Navigator Australia / New Zealand. The location is Richmond, in the north of the South Island. I've noticed this quality difference in other areas too. The properties of both tiles say file version 4 and highest quality.

    I've seen that also in the UK, and put it down to the difference between v2 of Birdseye and v1, my guess is the tiles weren't all updated at the same time. I reloaded them again a few weeks later and everything was at the higher resolution. You might want to try again in a few days.

    As both versions of the adjacent tiles are the same I then scrolled to the south border of the tiles and selected and area that spanned across the lower borders of the left and right tiles. As expected, this new tile has even, good resolution all the way across.

    So I conclude the poor resolution of the right hand side is caused by me overlapping that tile with the existing left side. The left (good) was downloaded 2 days before the poor right hand side. I'd assumed it would be safe to overlap as after all the images all come from the same database......

    The blue lines in the screen shot show the overlap of the right over the left. The south tile I made deliberately well clear of the two tiles above. There's precious little Help available in BaseCamp > Help on BirdsEye.

    Well the overlapping theory did not work. After downloading an area that did not overlap with the good left hand tile the right hand is still blurred. It would be useful if a Garmin technician could give us some tips!



    Interesting to see my brothers landscaping business on the City Navigator map - about 500m from the correct location.

    As I've already pointed out that tile is probably an older version.
