Is there a way to stop map view from redrawing/repositioning on delete?

Using Basecamp 4.4.6 on Windows 7 Enterprise

I have a number of geocaches loaded into a GPSMAP 64st across multiple states. In Basecamp, I zoom the map into a specific area, say a specific park that I was geocaching in. In the "Devices" list tree, I have the "User Data" folder selected on the Memory Card (micro SD card).
  • On the map, I click on the geocache item that I want to delete.
  • This locates and highlights the geocache in the "User Data" list.
  • I right click on the highlighted item and select the "Delete" option to remove the selected geocache item.
  • The item is removed from the list and from the map.
  • Now the map zooms out to include all (or most) items in the "User Data" list.
  • How do I prevent the map from changing its zoom level... I want it to stay at the zoom level AND location that it was at before I deleted the geocache item.
  • Unfortunately this behaviour is Basecamp trying to be 'helpful'. Personally I wish it wouldn't redraw/reposition unless I tell it to.

It would be great if there was an option to change this behaviour, but currently there isn't :(

I'd like it not to zoom out too, it takes some time to get back to where I was and is quite frustrating at times.

Zooming out if needed is easy with the mouse wheel. Perhaps it wouldn't be quite so annoying if when it zoomed out it stayed centred on the same spot so it'd be easy to zoom back in quickly, but it doesn't, it recentres somewhere else so not only do you have tp zoom in again, but you have to find where you were again which can take a while.

    Please fix this.

+1 Really annoying behavior when you are deleting several waypoints in a row.
  • +2 I know the developers are thinking they are helping the user. Most of the time I wish the software would stop helping me.
Like in the case of the infamous balloon popup when you linger on the map. If I want to know what's under the mouse I'll ask for it.
Don't slap me in the face with it.

There is a workaround of sorts, not perfect but better than having to find your way back to the original zoom level and position... delete the waypoint from the map:

    1. Click anywere on the map to give it focus.
    2. Make sure the waypoint you want to delete is selected.
    3. Press the Delete key or Right-click Delete.

Waypoints deleted this way do not reposition the map.

Edited to add: The point is that after deleting an item through the list the focus on that item is lost, so the software refocuses on the next item on the list, which could be anywhere, but if the item is deleted from the map the focus stays with the map and the position is retained.
