New route displays straight line only

My Monterra new route in Basecamp will not follow the roads!
I choose a new route, click start point, click point further down a nice curvy road and it draws a straight line only. Don't know why..
Please Help,

Do you have a routeable map selected in Basecamp? Have you selected the correct Activity profile?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't found where to change it to a routeable map.?? And the activity profile is set to Motorcycle.

I had it on Topo map. I switched it to CN North America and it worked.
Don't know how long it would have taken me to figure out you can't do that on all of the maps. Not sure why Garmin would do that. Thank You!!

Now I just got to figure out why my Monterra will not update.

Some topo maps are routeable. ... The US 24K are .... some aren't eg the 100K ones.

I have the same problem using US roads and rec. I thought it was routable. Am I wrong?

Roads & Rec is not routeable and is at least 16 years old.
