I have the Garmin Tactix paired with the basecamp app on Iphone. What I want to do is pull up a map area that is stored in the basecamp app, use it to adjust my route and send it to the Tactix for navigation assist. Right now I do not have any purchased maps and before I do so I want to be sure this will work properly, as it looks right now the app requires a data connection to load maps and that isn't of any use in the in the backcountry. Or is there another Garmin handheld device to pair with for this purpose, trying to limit my gear... Thanks!
It's not possible to add maps to BaseCamp mobile or send the map in BCM to the Tactix. U can only send routes, tracks and waypoints from BCM to the Tactix...
u can us I.e a eTrex 30 with Topo maps, and transfer track, route and waypoint data from the eTrex to the Tactix.
So just so I understand the mobile app cannot save maps on internal storage. I would need to go to a etrex 30 or similar? Thanks for the quick response.

BCM uses Bing maps and needs to be connected to the Internet to be used, the benefits of using a I.e ETrex 30 is that u can buy/use about every map u like (topo, open street or custom maps). But what ever device u us, non of them can wireless transfer maps from or to the Tactix.
I don't think I'm being clear, I do not need map data on the tactix the screen size would make it all but unusable. What I need to do is look at the map on another device either a gps or preferably the basecamp app, decide a new route based on current position, topo information and where I now have to get to. Then send via Bluetooth or wireless just the route/waypoint info to the tactix for navigation. The unit with the maps must be able to store maps offline as in the backcountry I do not have wireless data, wifi or cellular. Thanks.
