BaseCamp vanished

I have just uninstalled two old maps from my computer - Europe NTU 2015.10 and 2015.20, leaving 2015.30, using Windows control panel on Win7 64bit.

It said nothing about BaseCamp being uninstalled ... and Programs and Features still lists Garmin BaseCamp v4.3.5 (although I was sure I had v4.4.6) ... but it seems to have mostly vanished from my computer!

Is that what normally happens? If so, how are we supposed to remove old maps without destroying BaseCamp?

Issues like this have been reported in the past, and you're right that it shouldn't happen. In your case just reinstall Basecamp 4.4.6

I feared that might be the case. Trouble, at the moment I am running perilously close to my download limit for the month (because of problems with Express and downloading Europe 2015.40!), and the BaseCamp download is 55MB, so I will have to wait until next month. Will it have deleted all my data on the PC as well?

No. Your data should still be there. If you have 4.3.5 you will be able to use that.
