Etrex 30 - path difference between the GPS and GPX file. Help

Hello Guys , good morning !

I made a journey of about 6 days with GPS on , off only at night !

At the end of the trip I checked the GPS and showed me a total of approx 2300 Km run .

I used the TCX convert to join some intermediate paths and it shows me the total 1300 km run , different path that the GPS shows me . What might be happening?

Without more detail it's difficult to say. Can you post some screenshots from either your Etrex or Basecamp showing the routes or post the gpx file here? How long do you think you did in 6 days? Did you notice anything unusual during the 6 day trip?

I have an Etrex 20 and have never seen these sorts of discrepancies.

What version of software is on the eTrex? If it's not 4.20 you should upgrade it. Garmin had a bug in the older software that could give a error in the distance that was fixed in 4.20. As SUSSAMB said if you could give us some screen shots and or upload the files we could have a look at them.

While Dave123M is correct even with the earlier software I hadn't seen a discrepancy that large :)

I haven't seen an error that large eather but I don't have tracks that long. Most times the error was smaller but I have seen errors on very rare occasions that were over 100% off. So percentage wise that error would be in the range I have seen.
