cannot find sent files when 'send to device'

what in the world am I missing when trying to send my 'tracks' to the etrex 30 (V4.2)?

I'm going according to below procedure (out of BaseCamp help!)

I'm able to find my USB connected etrex 30 --> I send --> I never get a error msg (nor do I get a msg which would confirm a correct transfer!?!?) And afterwards, I cannot find any indication of the file on the etrex I intended to send!?

What stupid thing am I missing here?
PS: I always had Garmin devices. With this new etrex 30 I can - so far - do everything ok. Except this BaseCamp to etrex transfer.

Thanks for your help and hints

HELP procedure in BaseCamp:
Managing your data --> sending data to your device -->
1.Connect your device to your computer using a compatible USB cable.
Your device appears below the "Devices" heading in the Libraries and Devices window. See your device owner’s manual for more information.
2.Select an option:?Select Device > Send to Device > Send '[List Name]' to Device to send all data in the selected list.
?Select Device > Send to Device > Send Selection to Device to send only the items selected within the list.

A list of devices appears.

3.Select your device from the list.

4.Select OK
  • Your tracks will appear in Track Manager on your Etrex, is that where you're looking? Or you should be able to do a Where to, Tracks ... and view them there.

Hi thanks for your time. Well I knew I miss something stupidI certainly looked in the track manager. NOTHING there.
However, based on your remark on the 'where to' finally I went in the 'Route Planner'; bingo they are there! (or, via 'where to' --> 'Route Planner').

Well, lets not discuss the logic behind this ...! And, it's a pity that 'BaseCamp' is not giving an acknowledgement (positive or negative) after the 'send'.

But I'm a happy hiker again! thanks ed
  • If they're in Route Planner then you've sent routes not tracks. It's perfectly easy to see if they've been sent correctly. First you should see a green bar and then a tick/check mark against your Etrex's folder in the top left hand pane, then when you select that folder you will see what's there in the lower left hand pane. I'm not sure how much more 'positive' it could be.
