Cloud Storage - sync data to cloud to access your data from multiple devices

My title is a direct quote of BC Help.
but
it does not say anything about how it actually works
so
here is my question::

I have 3 computers - each with BC 4.4.6 and same Map version 2015.3
but over time
I have developed different routes (cross-country motorcycle routes) on different computers.
for example
Computer A has my route to Newfoundland and Computer B has my route to California and New Orleans route is on Computer C.

IF SYNC to gCloud ? what will happen ?

? 1) does it delete routes on my local hard drive (or are they still there
? 2) does it update BOTH cloud and local hard drive route files (or just cloud

? 3) assume I sync Computer A-Newfoundland first - then - when I sync Computer B-California do I have both (or does B over-write A
? 4) is there some way to get all 3 routes on all 3 computers

This is a simplified example as each computer actually has dozens of routes accumulated over years.

An even more basic question::

? 5) if I had only one computer and sync to gCloud - then - will I be able to access Route without Web access

{{ there I am late at night in my tent a hundred miles from the nearest WiFi and would like to edit my route for tomorrow ? is the current version on my local hard drive and when I get home will my edit sync ? }}

    A month ago I followed the instructions in BC / Help / search for "cloud" and it says to Enable Cloud Storage do the following
    click Sign In > Enable Cloud Storage
    Enter your myGarmin ID and password
    click login

    THIS DOES NOT WORK on my BaseCamp 4.4.6 (under Windows 7)

    Nor have I had any answers/suggestions to my thread her which I posted a month ago.

    TODAY I decided to try again ?? perhaps I can answer some of my questions above in previous post.

    I happened to pick Computer C this time and BC was already Signed-IN.
    It has my UserName in menu bar next to Help.

    So I LEFT-click my UserName and left-click Enable Cloud Storage.
    without any hesitation
    the drop-down menu option changes to
    Disable Cloud Storage

    SO, I guess, that Cloud Storage is turned-on for my Computer C.

    Thinking maybe we have some progress here, I followed Help instructions for Syncing Data to Cloud Storage
    it says::
    RIGHT-click [myGarmin ID]:Cloud Data
    click Sync Now

    I am not sure what these instructions actually say
    but when I
    RIGHT-click my UserName in menu next to Help
    it drops-down a menu
    NO options therein have CLOUD anything

    so THIS DOES NOT WORK EITHER
  • "RIGHT-click [myGarmin ID]:Cloud Data
    click Sync Now"

    Don't right click on your user name next to Help.

    Look in the left window for Cloud Storage and a Cloud icon followed by your user name: Cloud Data.
    Highlight and left click there
  • Hi,
    I have the same setup (1 desktop and 2 laptops) and solved it using Dropbox.
    In the menu choose Edit - Options - Tab General stuff.
    There you have the possibility to indicate where your database is --> There you have to set it to a folder on your dropbox.
    It gets tricky adding the others to the dropbox location, not sure how Basecamp will behave...
    Think you better export all your routes, etc to a "gdb file"first and then re-import this after joining the dropbox location.
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers,
    Luc
