Waypionts created in Basecamp do not show on GPSMap62St

New PGSMap62St. Basecamp v4.4.6. Garmin updated to v5.9. Creating waypoints in Basecamp. Transfer to GPS. Waypoint NOT showing under Waypoints in GPS. I can transfer data FROM GPS to Basecamp and can see that the GPS sent the created waypoint information to Basecamp, but still not showing in GPS. Why? GPX folder does not show the created waypoints. Only default waypoints provided by Garmin and a Waypoints.gpx file.
Something is wrong then I suspect as waypoints transfer without issue.
Incidentally the waypoints.gpx file will be the one sent by Basecamp ... are you sure you're looking on your device in the correct place? They should appear in Waypoint Manager.
You probably aren’t doing anything incorrectly - it is likely a quirk in the 62 series that sometimes arises. The waypoints.gpx file should contain the data sent to the device. It can be open with a text editor like notepad or wordpad if you wish to verify that the data is on your device.
The simplest solution is to download any data on the device you wish to keep to an empty list in BaseCamp (you said that BaseCamp sees the missing waypoints on the device). Delete the data on the device using your method of choice. Safely remove the device from the computer, turn it on and then off once it is done booting up (you don’t need to wait for a satellite fix). Reattach the device to the computer and send the list back to the device.
Check to see if the waypoints show up in the waypoint manager. You can then “Remove and Delete Unique Content” on the list to clean up BaseCamp.
As to why, my guess is that device has to create its own “directory” to find data and this information either gets corrupted or fails to update under some circumstances.
Certainly true that it could be your GPS hasn't indexed the file correctly but not heard of that happening on a new GPS before. It's why many of us install way points, geocaches etc to an installed card. That way if there is an issue when away from your PC you can remove the card, reboot the GPS then shut it down and reinstall the card. Then when you switch on the card should be correctly indexed.
I resolved my issue. Your comments about looking a the Waypoints.gpx file helped. I discovered that I had either too long a waypoint name or had included characters that the GPS did not like. I edited the name in the .gpx file and they appeared on the next startup. Thank you for your comments - it helped guide me to my fix.
Glad that you solved the problem, but I'm little surprised that a waypoint created or imported in BaseCamp would have caused this problem as it does these types of checks.
The problem I mentioned was not too uncommon in the earlier firmware versions for this device. At times it would cause the device to freeze when trying to review or activate a waypoint and removing the batteries was the only way to regain use of the device. SUSSAMB's sd card trick is a good one to remember for this problem. It has worked for me in the past.
There are too many diffences among the many devices for Basecamp to do edits unique to all of them. It's very simple for me to create waypoint names in Basecamp that are, for instance, much too long for my eTrex. The eTrex simply truncates them so it's not usually a problem.
