secondary roads on basecamp

I am very new to the GPS world. I bought a 450t with the hopes of being able to view places to hunt on the computer and then plan a route to get to a spot and load it on the handheld unit. I have a good bit of computer experience but have found this to be difficult. I have downloaded BaseCamp and purchased the Birdseye option. When I open Base Camp I cannot find secondary roads. I have checked the activity profile and the lines option is checked. I cannot find if I need to purchase additional maps. Any help or direction to help videos would be much appreciated.

Which map do you have selected? Sounds like it may just be the Basemap. When you click on maps in the toolbar what is showing? What is ticked?

Well that's the problem. What others are listed? You have the 450T model which comes with detailed mapping of some type depending on the country you're in. When you connect your GPS to your PC Basecamp will list the detailed map and you should then choose it. Note on first connecting your GPS to your PC it may take a while for the map to appear in 'Maps' as Basecamp neds to 'index' the map(s).

To further discussion. I have the maps loaded now all looks good. I am able to download the imagery from birdsey.

I have a question on the best way to accomplish a path. In my area brush is very think and you can get lost quickly in heavy brush. I can see where I will park and I can see where I want to go. What is the best way to plan a path on the computer and then transfer it to my 450t and then navigate?

Choose the direct activity profile then click at the relevant points along the route. Adjust as necessary using the insert and move tools. There are links in Basecamp under help in the toolbar to videos etc.

Once you have the route right click it where it appears in the lower left hand pane and select Send to
...

Look under Edit, Options or see the help files and videos. That's why they're there.

Forgive my ignorance, but I am not sure what the direct activity profile is. What tool do you use?

My post went above yours. ... see above for the answer. You can also go here http://www8.garmin.com/learningcenter/training/basecamp/#PC which is the same as the link from within Basecamp. Worth studying the videos as you're new to Basecamp.
