Garmin Nuvi 2495 - Waypoints Map Symbol

I just go a Garmin Nuvi 2495LT after my previous Garmin Nuvi 205 stopped working.
Luckily I had all my way points saved on my computer and was easy to import it to Basecamp.

My problem is the Map Symbol on the device is all square green symbols with a little white middle symbol. Not the best to look at a glance when driving around.

I want to load the old Garmin map symbols as they where much clearer
or
I want to load custom map symbols if I can't get the old Garmin map symbols.

I have copied a .bmp file into a directory \Garmin\CustomSymbols\ and are unable to find the symbol in the symbol list.
  • Nuvis aren't able to use custom symbols. Your nuvi 'is what it is' ...
  • You can convert your waypoints to POI; in that case you can use any symbol you want. You will have to provide the symbols as bmp files yourself though, or use JaVaWa RTWtool which will add the correct symbols automatically. It supports every symbol that BaseCamp has.

It's not the same though; you can't delete individual POI's and they will be shown only when you zoom in far enough. On the other hand, there is practically no limit to the amount of POI; you can use thousands, even millions of them on your device.
