transfer computer to basecamp

After downloading a GPX track from the web to my desktop, and then clicking 'import to my collection', then browsing to the GPX and clicking 'open', the track does not appear in the library. I'm a newbie with windows 7 and new 64s which is not connected to the computer while I try this transfer. I thought I would try someone else's track which opens on the desktop with a big list of points.

Thx in advance for any help.

If you imported it it should appear in the lower left hand pane, if it doesn't it may not be a valid gpx file. Are you able to post it here so it can be checked?

Hmmmm, when I try to drag it to the forum space for attachments, it opens instead. Probably something wrong with that, or maybe it's me. The file is at withoutbaggage.com/gps/the-wave

I can download and import the file however it is named "Track" have you looked at it under that name?

I found the file on the lower left of the webpage he listed below the map.

Hmmm ... I didn't even see a map, I get a 'link broken' error :confused:

Nothing wrong with the file BTW

Good spot ... I tried backtracking but that didn't help. As you say, nothing wrong with the track.

@pixdrift ... Instead of clicking or dragging the link, try a right mouse click, then select "Save target as ..." from the menu. This behavior is typical on older IE browsers.

Thanks for finding the missing forward slash and making a bit of headway. Now I have tried downloading the GPX again(with drag method)--no change over at basecamp. Interestingly, I also tried downloading the GPX using the 'save as' method at the web site. This results in a desktop file with the broader category XML designation, which then will not show up in the basecamp browsing window. The printout of both downloads is identical as near as I can see.

So, I gather the file imports to basecamp OK for you guys?

Yes, I imported that GPX file into my BaseCamp on a Win7 PC.
