Calculating a hiking route in Basecamp ?

How do I calculate a route (track) in Basecamp. Even when I have set my activity to Hiking / Walking it still tries to re-route to include roads and not the route I input.

Then the map doesn't have routeable trails. Which map is it?

I usually just trace the trail I want to follow using the new track option, then download to my gpsmap62st..
