Joining Tracks

I have searched the forum and have been unable to find a solution to my particular problem. I have several tracks from exploring logging trails off of a main road. I reset my GPS "current trail" at the head end of the trail and explore different branches of the main trail. Some portions of each track are duplicated but I would like to join the tracks. I am able to join them but I end up with a straight line connecting the end of one track to the start. I have tried to select this portion of the track and erase it. Instead of erasing the straight line BC seems to erase the end point and the straight line moves to the next point in the track. Is there any way to join tracks and eliminate this straight line?

This can be done, just split the track in parts, place then all together in one list then change the color of each track (and a logical name of course)......

Even though this is not actually a single track, it is a pretty good workaround.....the theory being that you can use different colors to denote the difficulty of each section, or out vs. return, etc.

I'll have to try this. I now use BC created tracks for a majority of my dirt riding since they are not subject to the various anomalies of auto-routing on Garmin units. It will require re-thinking the way I have organized My Collection, though. If you don't have a lot of these multi-colored tracks you could just name them with the same beginning letters and they would show up sequentially in whatever existing list you put them in, like I said above, and then use the filter icon to look at only tracks in that list, for instance.

It's probably something I will use only rarely, but good to know it's possible. It would work quite well on a long series of tracks like the UTBDR or TAT, which is not my usual MO. Thanks for the tip Marco!
