Map not routable in Basecamp

Hi,

- I have a map installed in Mapsource.
- Its a routable map and it works fine
- But now I would like to move from Mapsource to Basecamp (Because of Garmin's push to Basecamp)

As a next step:
- I installed Basecamp and opened it.
- Since the map was already installed in Mapsource, I could see the map installed in Basecamp too.

The problem:
- Though I can browse the map in Basecamp, I am not able to route in it.
- In other words I can select two custom way points, when I ask to create a route, I get an error, it cannot route
- It does work fine in Mapsource though

What can be the problem?

Maybe the Activity Profile is not suitable. Check this in BaseCamp with: Edit > Options > Activity Profile

We checked this again. Yes the activity profile is set to drive (Automotive mode). We can route between two points in Mapsource. But the same is not possible in Basecamp. Its comes out with an error. Dont know the reason why?

Which map? Is that map actually selected in Basecamp so that you see it in Basecamp?

Its a third party map. Yes I can see the maps and can also browse through it. I can import waypoints as GPX and can see them imported at the correct locations as well. Just that when I select two of the waypoints and ask Basecamp to create a route, it fails. But the same operation works in Mapsource.

PS: I installed the map in mapsource first. I assume, that should be the only requirement for the map to work in Basecamp as well.

Well I have no idea, it certainly should work if it works in Mapsource. When you say activity profile is set to automobile is that what is listed when you double click the route and look in route properties? Have you tried selecting another profile there (clearly not the direct one) and clicking on Recalculate?

And which 3rd party map is it? I know of at least one OSM map that is offered in both routeable and non-routeable versions. Is it possible you have a routeable version selected in Mapsource but a non-routeable version in Basecamp?

Its a Mapmyindia map (India).

Also I did not install anything in basecamp. I just installed it in map source via gmaptool, cGPSmapper and mapset tool kit. It works perfectly well in map source but not in basecamp.

Also what do you mean when you say a routable versus non-routable map being selected in basecamp? I could not follow that point. Is there any backward compatibility issue with new versions of basecamp?

OK, I don't know that map. You've installed it to your PC so both MapSource and BaseCamp should work the same, why it's not I now have no idea.

The point about routable/non-routable map is that some come in both versions, so if you had loaded both versions then that could explain it, but as you haven't it's not an issue.

Just as a parting shot, installed the older version of basecamp (Version 4.2.5) and it worked! :) So looks like some changes between the two versions. Dont know what though!

Interesting ... my OSM maps route OK in 4.4.6, so still none the wiser :)

In my other set up it works. In other words, I exported maps via the Mac Api from Windows and installed them in MAC. And in there with the latest Basecamp it works. Dont know why it does not route in the Windows version though!
