Five years ago, (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?41810-Hidden-roadnumbers&p=189610&highlight=Joachim#post189610) I asked if it would be possible not to let the routes hide road numbers.
The answer I got then was that it's on the to-do-list.
The issue is still not solved. Am I the only one beeing disturbed by this? It's ok as long as I am planning a route in my home area, but when I work with some area far away or abroad it's anoying that the identification of the roads are so effectivly hidden

I don't find it a problem, the numbers are only 'hidden' if you have a route on top of the road.

Yes, I still find it annoying when planning routes.... I have found that you can mouse over and a popup will show it, normally.... :o

Well... Yes, that's precisely the point. I agree with the OP, it's not a huge deal, but it would be VERY nice if when reviewing a route, the route numbers there on the map could be seen. This has indeed been a request on the table for a very long time, and always acknowledged by the developers that it's on the list. In my experience in software development, items on the "to do" list should get some added priority if they have been on the list for a long time. Otherwise they just never get done.

But that's exactly the point!!! So now you have a route but no idea what highways it's following. It's something that bothers me, too.

MapSource covers them too :( Guess I'd got used to it.

One thing I find helps a lot is to narrow the width of the route. Edit/Options/Display/Route Width.

Just "hovering" the mouse cursor over the map anywhere will produce a ballon (which potentially obsures map details)!

True, and mildly annoying. But at least we have the option to move the mouse cursor somewhere else so we can see what's under it. That's not true of the line of a route.
