Is there a significant difference in download speeds between the USB 1.1 vs 2.0. I was thinking about a new Etrex 30 but it uses the older 1.1 usb connection. Dose it matter for 24k maps ,way points,trackls etc. For Birdseye probably a big difference?
Yes, there is a big difference in speed. It takes my computer 35 minutes to send 800MB to an eTrex 20 / 30 or 62. The same map set takes 7 minutes for a 62s, Oregon, Montana etc etc. There's a nasty little piece of work on the Garmin payroll somewhere who made the decision to penalise customers of the cheaper models.
