Just for the record, Basecamp was never introduced as a Mapsource replacement. The developers have been crystal clear about that from the beginning. In the early days they didn't have the slightest interest in trying to include Mapsource functions if they were not specific to handheld devices and outdoor activities.
  • An new nice little bug in BC 4.4.6.:

Placing two via's too close to eachother will result in a U-turn. Please check attachment:

Two via's within one 'road-segment': you can see the black dots: those are the only via's. The route however continues to the 'end of the segment' en then makes a u-turn, back to the 2nd via.

It's not a major bug; you normlly won't place via's so close. But.. a bug is a bug ;)

    Note:
    - it's not related to e.g. seperate lanes
    - same situation in mapsource works fine
    - it happens in all map-types

But it has effectively become one since MapSource hasn't been updated (and probably never will be) since Oct 2010.

Of course MS still works for many people (there are issues with certain maps in some areas) :) Search works, as do UK postcodes and so on :D

    Already reported

  • Is there any chance that Garmin could release an update which will display the UK "properly" instead of all stretched horizontally?

It's a side effect of Map projection at high latitudes.

I think both BaseCamp and MapSource have registry settings to adjust this but I don't remember the details.

JaVaWa GMTK supposedly allows you to alter the projection angle.
  • JaVaWa GMTK supposedly allows you to alter the projection angle.

Yes, it does, but only for maps that are installed on your computer. if BaseCamp is using the map from your device instead, you need JaVaWa Device Manager to alter the projection angle.
