New route loses detail when transferred from basecamp to etrex 30

Hi

I developed a long and complex route on basecamp

In the process it dutifully followed roads as it went around corners etc

I then transferred the route to etrex 30.

When I viewed the route on etrex 30 it was not a faithful copy. The route skipped corners and simply went as the bird flies from one point to another

I then tried inserting plenty of extra points on non-straight sections of the route, when re-viewed on basecamp, then uploaded this new version to etrex, but when viewed on etrex 30 its still skipping bends and corners

Is there a limit to the numbers of points it will accept to define any route?

regards, rick
  • Probably just a difference in the map on your Etrex compared with Basecamp? Or a setting on your Etrex? It needs to be set to route 'on road'.

As for number of points, no more than 50 IIRC for a route 'on road' ... but most folks wouldn't get anywhere near that.

It will work though, I have no issues with routes from Basecamp following roads on both my Etrex 20 and Montana.
