Birdseye

I have a bunch of birdseye imagery downloaded. There has been new imagery updated and now I wish to update. Is there any way to re download my previous birdseye imagey tiles without having to reselect the areas I want? I have about 70 images to re download and don't want to have to manually select each area again. I guess I'm looking for an option to re download or update my previous selections. It would save SO much time over having to reselect each tile I want to download.

Thanks!

I guess I'm looking for an option to re download or update my previous selections.

I don't think it's possible but it would be a nice feature (i.e. unlock existing imagery without re-downloading).

I purchased a new device recently and sold the old one that had (at one time) a Birdseye subscription. I was thinking of purchasing a new subscription and looked into this. In the end I decided not to purchase a new subscription.

I'm not looking to put the imagery on a new device, it is still the same gps, I just wish to re download the updated imagery without having to reselect all my old tiles. Thanks though!

It should still be in BaseCamp (unless you deleted it). If so you can just re-transfer it to your unit. No need to re-download from Garmin.
  • I think the OP wants to update imagery he already has, I don't think it's possible without reselecting the areas etc.

Ahhh. Well a "re-download and unlock (for this subscription) this existing area" would accomplish both purposes: a new device and a refresh of existing imagery.

Perhaps JM47048 could add that to the BC "wish list".

Yes, there is newer imagery released, so I wish to replace my current imagery with the newer imagery, therefore must re download all my selected tiles. Would be nice to have a re download option instead of having to manually select all my tiles again. I have them aligned in perfect squares with no overlaps. Took a while to do, and would be much easier to re download than manually remake all my tiles.
  • I seem to recall that doing that in the past. You could use an existing BE Image as a "selection" to download a new image. It would use that as a starting point from which you could re-define the area or, leave it as is. At least, I think that's what I did when BE v2 became available. I recall a menu item, "Create Birdseye Image From Selection" or something along those lines.

Maybe that was available in a previous version of BC. Whatever I'm thinking that I tried to describe above, its not available now!:)

I think your right, I remember that too. Maybe I can find a previous version of basecamp that has that, install it on my laptop, and see if that works. Bummer that they removed that option.
  • I just went through this replacing my BirdsEye V1 images with Birdseye V2. It is a pain in the neck. It would help if you could just select the rectangular area with coordinates (upper left and lower right). That way you could copy and paste the values from the old image.

Checked my laptop, it still has version 4.2.5, and it has the option to create birdseye from selection. Will transfer all my birdseye from desktop to laptop, update all images, and transfer back. What a pain in the butt. Garmin developers, please put this option back in future releases of basecamp!!!
