Valid Chart Product Not Found

When syncing my Etrex 30 with Basecamp (4.2.5) five maps sync fine (TOPO 24K Northwest, West, Mountain North, Mountain Central, and Mountain South) but TOPO 24K Northeast does not. When Basecamp and the Etrex are connected Basecamp displays status bars for the different maps as they sync. The status bar for the Northeast map is displayed in red and the status information displayed when hovering over the status bar shows "Valid Chart Product Not Found".

The maps were downloaded from Garmin and installed on the Etrex 30 in 2012 and there has not been any issue before now. The Northeast map works flawlessly in the Etrex; the problem only happens with Basecamp.

Any ideas? I have not tried Basecamp 4.4.4 yet (I will tonight) but would that be an issue fixed in the new version? (the info about the update did not mention this problem.) The Etrex 30 firmware is up to date.

Can I pull the Northeast map files from the Etrex via USB and get Basecamp to recognize it? What does "Valid Chart Product Not Found" mean? Any ideas?

I would try the 4.4.4 version of BaseCamp first. Let me know if this solves your issue. If not I will be glad to assist.

Sounds to me like the .img file, on your eTrex 30, for TOPO 24K Northeast has been corrupted (it happens). I try retransferring it with MapInstall/MapSource.

Basecamp 4.4.4 did not resolve the problem.
Now I'm trying to locate the original map downloads - from a Windows instance a couple of iterations ago. I thought I had them backed up but I'm having trouble locating the original files - I don't know what they were named when I originally purchased them. Any ideas?

If you purchased the maps in download format (you don't say) they were probably named gmapsupp.img (after which you renamed them?).

If they were purchased in the last year you can probably download them again (look in your myGarmin account).

I highly recommend you backup up (to DVD, external HD, USB drives etc) any software/data you purchase. Make multiple copies.

Problem solved. Remnants of a 2013 failed upload to internal storage (the Northeast map) were causing a failure to read the clean map files on the SD card. Etrex didn't care, but Basecamp - at least these later versions - wouldn't allow. Removed the offenders and Basecamp is happy again. Interestingly, removing those map files removed some of the tracks. Restoring to an earlier backup brought the tracks back and the now clean Northeast map loads. Yay!
