I am still getting "Annoying Balloon" in BS 4.4.2

Has this issue been fixed already but my settings are wrong?

I am talking about when you hover your cursor/hand/tool over a spot on the map, a balloon pops up telling you Name of your Birdseye or Name of the Area, etc. I am pretty sure this was reported back in 2011 or earlier. I saw a thread where Falagar said they were hoping for something in 4.3 to take care of it.

I really hope I missed an announcement about how to disable it. I just downloaded NT 2015.30 and although I am quite pleased that Grid reference data is now included in this (new to me) map, those Grid references are now popping up in the "annoying balloon" also.
  • The 'pop up' behaviour has been improved, but it's still there. Not sure if there are any plans to improve it even further.
  • I don't get Garmins response to this. Obviously, there are a number of people including me that find this very annoying. Just adding a simple option to turn it off completely would be a trivial software exercise.
My idea for the popup is "if I want to know something I'll ask for it".

Really? I'm still seeing them when I "hover" over spots on a map. What about the good 'ole "right-click"? Just add the location/feature to the top of the context menu. At least its not there unless you request it.
  • I'm still seeing them too but they don't appear as quickly so generally can be avoided. I agree the 'right click' option would be sensible, it's something I suggested a while back :)
  • A couple other "pop up" balloons I've noted are, when you click (select) on a route in the list pane, it "highlights" the selected route on the map (good) but, it puts a popup label near the center of the map for that route.

The real "gem" is when you are entering or editing the position in a properties window or the Control-T window, if there is an error, a balloon pops up stating "Invalid Input" and this balloon partially covers the entry that is supposed to be corrected!

I agree, we don't really need both and highlighting the route is good enough for me.

Well, it partly covers the entry box at the end, doesn't really cause an issue IMO.

Yes, it does cover part of the entry box and in your opinion its not an issue. It is however, a NUISANCE (IMO), like the other characteristics of the pop up balloons.
