I have read some other threads here regarding issues with route transfer from basecamp to device, but there doesn't seem to be any definitive answers.
Windows 8.1
Basecamp 4.4.2
Garmin Oregon 400t
Vietnam - Garmin Open Street Map generic routeable - both regular and "new style"
Activity profile - dirt biking
device transfer option is to include intermediate points (see below) and match map to device
Building routes in basecamp, some sections will mirror the roads and other sections of the route will direct route, from waypoint to waypoint. I have "fixed" this by inserting intermediate points in those sections to mirror the road somewhat.
When transferring to device, and pulling up the route, I get direct route lines between points on the route... nothing following roads. The only sections following roads are the sections in which I have inserted points.
The only solution is to insert a bunch of different points within the entire route and then follow the sort-of-accurate route on the device. Of course your distances, etc are way off.
I can't find anywhere to select or de-select "direct routing" either on device or basecamp as some suggestions on other threads have mentioned.
I have navigated with this oregon on several similar trips before and no issues.
any help from the gurus would be appreciated!
Trying to navigate in remote northern Vietnam on dirt bikes.... it's a pain this way!
