It would be nice if Basecamp had an option to clear its copy of the GPS internal data or an option to have Basecamp update its copy of the GPS internal data (under devices). Basecamp seems to read the GPS internal data when the GPS is first connected or turned on. If I erase all GPS internal user data, then the data in Basecamp is stale. To Clear the old Basecamp data I have to power cycle the GPS. It would be nice to tell Basecamp to update the Basecamp copy of the GPS user data.

This is a device issue. Many devices require a reboot for changes to be reflected in BaseCamp.

Additionally many (but not all) models don't allow data to be deleted via BC. Instead it must be done in the device itself.

Yes, that would be nice! But as StuartMW points out, it's a "device issue".
Now, why Garmin cannot release firmware for each device to insert some program "code" which would make them honor a basecamp driven "clear" or "overwrite" is beyond me. It's not like we're trying to control a Tomtom or Magellan with basecamp.
