Multiple waypoint files

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this question as I am new here. Can you have more than one file for waypoints? Currently I have about 200 waypoints in one file but when I do a new ATV ride I want to have just the waypoints for that ride. What I want to do is share the track/route and waypoints of a single ride and not share all 200 waypoints.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Kenny
  • Using Garmin's Basecamp program you can do just that, as well as a host of other things :)

    Download it from here http://www.garmin.com/en-GB/shop/downloads/basecamp

Sure. What software are you using? MapSource?

PS: BaseCamp is a single database application. You don't save stuff in individual files as with MapSource and 3rd party applications. You can use what works for you.

No, but you can send whatever part of that database you want to a Garmin GPS, or indeed create a gpx file and manually transfer it if that's what you wish. Either way Basecamp will do what the OP wants, I do it all the time, although Mapsource would also work. Depending on his device that may influence which is best for him.

Yup. Choice is a good thing :)

Of course the OP might not have meant "file" in the computer sense but a list/folder in BaseCamp.

Thank all of you for your prompt response. I am using Basecamp and still learning it as I have been a long time DeLorme gps user, although some things are similar, lots of other things are very different. It will just take time to learn the commands Garming uses and memorizing the steps in the Montana. What little I have used the Montana 650t I am very impressed with it, my use is exclusively on my ATV in the Western US.

  • This thread is over 6 years old and your post seems unconnected with the thread topic.  Please start a new one, explain exactly what you're trying to do, where it fails and which device you're using. Thanks
