Basecamp transfering too much data to GPS

I want to send a single route to my StreetPilot 2720 using Basecamp 4.4.2. In Basecamp, I select the route in 'My Collection', then I select 'Device' from the menu bar, then I select 'Send to Device', then I select 'Send Selected to Device'. When the 'Select Device' window opens I click 'OK' (my 2720 is already selected). The problem is that several other routes and many waypoints/favorites are also sent to the GPS. I would like to send only the route and no other data. Can this be done?

I think selecting the item in My Collection, right clicking, and choosing "Send To..." will do what you want.

Nope. tried that too. I tried many different ways. None worked.

Before sending anything, have you tried completely deleting everything off the device before plugging it into the computer? If there's data left on the device before sending, it can look like more was sent than really was...

Cleared the all data prior to each transfer.

I cleared the all data in the GPS prior to each transfer to ensure I was not seeing left over data.

I don't know abut your GPS but Basecamp sends data to Garmin GPS in a file named temp.gpx. In many cases deleting data on the device itself doesn't delete this file, that needs to be done manually. If you have a GPX folder on your GPS ensure temp.gpx isn't present, then delete all data off your GPS. Now try sending the data from basecamp using the method Stuart described above.

I found the problem. Basecamp stores a copy of the GPS internal data. Look at the 'Devices' entry. So, After clearing the GPS itself, one must cycle power on the GPS to get Basecamp to update its copy of the GPS internal data. It would be nice if Basecamp had an option to clear its copy of the GPS internal data or an option to have Basecamp update its copy of the GPS internal data..

This data is contained in the current.gpx file on the device. The device creates this file each time it is plugged in to the computer. All Basecamp does is to read from this file to show the internal data on the device.

If you unplug the device and then plug it back in again (or power cycle the device), this file will be created to reflect what is currently in the internal memory of the device.
