copying position data

Hi, i have some tracks that were recorded incorrectly by my Fenix. I'm working on that issue, but was trying to figure out how to fix the track in Basecamp. I have done several out-and-back hikes where some section of the track gets off course or sometimes i'm traveling at 665mph! What i'd like to do is to use the correct position data (from whichever direction) to put it in the divergent sections. I'd like to keep all data (elevation, leg speed, leg time, etc), but overwrite the Position data. How do i do this? Like, is there a way to download the track as an Excel document so i can just copy/paste the data in the Position column?

And are there hierarchies to the data columns, such as the Leg Time, Position, and Time are used to extrapolate the Leg Speed, Leg Course, and Leg Distance? So if i can just overwrite the Position data, will it calculate things afterwards?

    Hello Smith,

I used MapSource to split your track into laps.
BaseCamp will do the same thing but I am a longtime user of MapSource and it works great for me.

Laps 3, 4, 5 are just the same as recorded by your Fenix.

Based on the shape of your remaining track I took a guess at when you turned at the Cabin and cut it making PrelimLap1 and PrelimLap2.
That gave me an approximate time for Lap1 of 32 minutes.

I opened Lap5 in MapSource and inverted it, saved as GPX, used "GPX TimeStripper" to remove all timestamps, used "GPSies" to create a GPX Track with new properly increasing timestamps and saved as Lap5rev.

Lap5rev has 1550 timestamps. PrelimLap1 has 1737 timestamps so I filtered it down close to 1550. The 2 tracks have to be similar before using the Fit File Repair Tool to merge in coordinates.

I opened your PrelimLap1 into the Tool because it has the approx correct time going up to the Cabin.
I merged in the coords from Lap5rev because that was the trail you used.
The result is the new corrected Lap1 from Hwy4 to the Cabin....I hope....you can tell me later.

I opened your PrelimLap2 in BaseCamp and removed everything except the short track from the Cabin out to the Towers and back to the Cabin.
The result is the new corrected Lap2.
You probably went farther but the coordinates and speeds are whacky and there is no good track to adjust up to.

I put all 5 laps into the Tool, added calories to each lap based on an estimated 300 calories per hiking hour for a total of 867 calories.
TopoFusion calculated 778 calories for a runner weighing 165lbs covering the same trail at the same speed so I am in the ballpark with calories.

So....here ya go. Used almost all my softwares to fix this one but only the Fit File Repair Tool could merge the correct coords with the correct time to make the finished Lap1.
The FIT file has the new laps.
The GPX file is the same track but GPX does not support laps so it is just one continuous track.

wow, thanks for all the work on it. It's crazy how much work was needed to fix it, but i really really appreciate it. This was a hike i had planned for a while, so to have the track finally fixed is great. I definitely don't have all that software, so it looks like i was in over my head. Great to get a complete track! THANKS!!!

BTW, i think i ended up using the GPX file version.
