Hi, I am having trouble saving data from BC to my gps, the latter an etrex 30.
Basically, my question is, is there a certain procedure I'm supposed to follow to guarantee any action i take through Base Camp will work on my GPS? Is there a certain procedure to "close out" of Basecamp which automatically saves info the BC and to my device?
From what i can tell, when saving data to a device it's better to click on the folder of waypoints in My Collection, then select Device > send to device > etc. then to "click and drag" between the folders in the left toolbar.
And insofar as I can tell, erasing data from the device using Base Camp is often hit and miss. I usually select the data in the left hand menu but this doesn't always work. Sometimes I have to try a few times to make sure the data is all gone. Can anyone suggest a foolproof method?
Also, from what I can tell, it's best to exit basecamp then eject the gps from my computer. Sometimes when I don't do this exactly, the information doesn't transfer. This has been problematic at times because I use Base camp and my GPS to collect field data: there have been times when I didn't follow the right procedure and ended up in the field without tracking data.
Has anyone else noticed this? Can anyone explain the lack of a "save" function in the "file" menu, and the logic behind the system as it presently stands? Any suggestions?
