creating maps with roads and contours and installing & loading them in one go

Hi,

This was initially posted under "Creating Garmin Custom Maps" but the thread was closed and a recommendation was done to post in this forum.

so here we go again:

I would like to install a bunch of lines on my garmin tactix and montana, i.e. contour lines, roads, etc but I would like to load them in one go on the device.

I want to load them en mass as one item (I repeat that as I think it is important) and not individually.

Can I do that, when they are all created inside one GPX file?

When I create one GPX file using my GIS application, it very frequently will include a few hundreds of roads and contours. Now when I use basecamp to send that single GPX file info to my garmin device, the device will see the roads, one by one and I will have to load the roads one by one. Even if I do not use Basecamp, and copy and paste the GPX file, then again, the device will see them as individual tracks/lines that will need to be loaded individually.

I do not want them to appear as individual lines that I will have to "show on map" manually one by one.

Is that feasible? If I create a GPX file with contours and roads, then they appear as individual roads and contours... not as a whole set/layer in the device's functions.

Needless to say that if it is a 6mb GPX file it will take for ever to go and "show on map" all of them, individually on the device...

Let me know... I am sure there is an easy way to do it, but I have no idea!

Thanks
