I can't find the Route I made with BaseCamp on my Nuvi 200! rrrr

I'm new to using this software....I made a route in BaseCamp and connected my Nuvi 200 to my PC. The Nuvi is detected and comes up in the BaseCamp sidebar under Devises. I right clicked on the Route and then Send To to my Nuvi. I opened the Internal Storage folder for the Nuvi in BaseCamp and I see the Route I made.

I disconnected the Nuvi and I cannot locate the Route I loaded. I plug it back into my computer and the Route is no longer listed in the Internal Storage folder.

I tried to move the Route by click and dragging as well with the same results.

What am I doing wrong???

Am I suppose to have an SD card in my Nuvi to do this?

I made sure the maps and software are up date.

  • Your 200 isn't capable of reading a route sent by Basecamp, or indeed any other program.

Not really. In fact Garmin has removed the "Routes" specification from the Specs tab of units on their website. That was how I checked particular models. There are 3rd party websites that show that data but they're sometimes incomplete.

See the "Multi-point routing" column in this table.

Is there anyway to plot a route on my device?

Not with your nuvi 200. All nuvi's support "goto's"--that is a route to a single point (waypoint/POI/etc). The 200 supports a single via as well. That said you can't save a route or transfer one from a computer to a 200.

I'm leaving for a motorcycle trip with a certain route I planned out and would like the entire route ready to go on the Garmin.

It is possible if you have a model that has the capability. For example all three of my units support routes. I use routes pretty often and pre-plan them on a computer.

A word of warning however. New Garmin models don't support traditional Garmin routes. They have a new feature called the Trip Planner. Also even units that support routes may do so differently.

Routes and the Oregon x50 (and other?) models

I strongly advise doing lots of research before purchasing any new model.
