CNNA overlays Basemap can I fix it

Now when the Montana (version 6.1) is connected to the surface pro, CNNA is visible in Basecamp, but the base map is also visible overlaid by CNNA. I select maps from the tool bar - 3 show, CNNA, base map from Montana and base map from Base camp, I check off CNNA but still see a base map overlaid by CNNA. Is there a way to correct this? I see 2 major roads, the CNNA image and the more crudely drawn image from the base map. I'm using surface pro windows 8.1 - garmin support said uninstall basecamp and then download again; does NOT work!
  • Some users report this and I have no idea why it happens, not sure the Basecamp team do either.

    Hello Cclanfan,

You could remove the base map from your Montana and store it in a folder. Cut and Paste will work just fine.
Most likely the base map is named gmapbmap.img
That way you could put it back later if necessary. Copy and Paste will work.

Never remove the basemap often it invluences the behavior of your device while navigating. Try to copy the cnna map files o another usb stick or microsd and then use cnna from that device.

    Hello Marco,

You could be correct about a lot of devices but not my Edge 705.
It works just fine with no basemap at all. I use it all the time.

I have 50 mile tracks on back country trails that I navigate to keep from getting lost while doing endurance racing on my horse.
I found that having that track on a blank screen gave the best visibility with no confusing contour lines, inaccurate roads, etc.
So I uncheck my Topo24K and CNNA maps and get a blank screen because the basemap is gone.
If there is an emergency and I need to know where the nearest road is and the best trail to get there I just turn on the maps I need.

Issue resolved itself when updated to Basecamp new version 4.4.1:)
