Transfer route from one PC to another

Daughter away from home. I have a route built in basecamp I'd like her to use. Is there a way I can build a route, then save it so it can be transferred to another computer. I'd like to send it to my daughter where she can use her PC to load it onto her GPS using basecamp.

Doable?

Perfectly doable. Save the route as a GPX file. Email, or give, her the file. The file can then be imported into BC or saved directly on her unit (if she knows how).

You won't find a "Save" command of course in BaseCamp. Use the File, "Export", feature to create the GPX file STUARTMW suggested. ;)

Thansk, I tried a gpx import once. The resulting route didn't have voice, just tried to go between ambigious named waypoints. But the gpx wasn't gtom Basecamp. Will a gpx from basecamp work like a normal route once on the other device?

BaseCamp (and MapSource before it) copy data to devices (except for some really old models) via GPX files under the hood. Emailing or otherwise sending a GPX from BaseCamp to another user is as good as having the device right there. GPX files from some sources can result in issues (because they may not conform 100% to the GPX standard or they include stuff Garmin units/software don't support).

I've done a lot with BC, but never exported routes or lists for others' use. So I wonder, since the op is going Garmin-to-Garmin, what is the difference/advantage/disadvantage between exporting as a .gpx vs as a .gdb file, which, after all, is a Garmin-proprietary format?

The GDB file will be a lot smaller but it is a binary/compressed file. The GPX file is a text file and can be easily modified with a text editor if required. It is also almost universally supported on all platforms.

Trying to export from my Toshiba laptop and Basecamp crashes whenever I try an export a waypoint / route / file. Any alternatives?

Edit been looking at this folder: C:\Users\Jxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp\Database\4.2 and it has a Garmin GPS Database folder of "Alldata" of about 45 000kb, can that be copied and pasted into another computer that has 4.3.5 Basecamp?
