Moving data and maps to new computer

My old computer died and can no longer boot to Windows. However I can boot to a Ubuntu live cd and get my old Windows files. I was running BaseCamp 4.1 on Windows XP. I found the database files at .../Appdata/GARMIN/... and copied them to the new computer (Win 8.1 running BaseCamp 4.3.5) and the tracks, etc show up on BaseCamp. However I can't find my old maps. Where were the maps stored for BaseCamp 4.1 on Windows XP?

Thanks,
Bill

In any version of Windows, the older style (non-GMAP) map files are in C:/Garmin.

Can't remember the exact path in XP for the GMAP style files. It's something like C:/Users/[username]/application data/local/garmin. That should get you close.

Or if brute force is required, do a search for the character string "GMAP" starting at the root and including all subdirectories. It's a directory name, not a file name.

EDIT: storage locations of the maps have nothing to do with Basecamp. The various map installers and map types may install in different locations. Basecamp (and Mapsource) are pretty good at finding them.
