BaseCamp 4.4.0.1 BETA is now available and can be downloaded here:

http://garmindeveloper.com/apps/BC/BaseCampBeta_4.4.0.1.exe

This release does not support XP.

You do not have to uninstall BaseCamp 4.3.5 and it will not overwrite that installation. The BETA and an official release of BaseCamp will live side-by-side but must be used separately.

Below is a list of changes. This is only a BETA release.

• Added notification that eligible devices can install maps on the desktop using Garmin Express
• Added ability to create and manage areas to avoid while routing
• Added properties (and shading) for public land survey types
• Added progress bar in the data list for downloading BirdsEye
• Added progress bar on the BirdsEye wizard for downloading BirdsEye
• Added way to activate BirdsEye subscriptions within BaseCamp
• Added ability to go back on the BirdsEye wizard dialog and select a new area (subscription only)
• Added option to disable imagery display in the map views
• Added some additional waypoint symbols to be more consistent with newer nuvi and zumo devices
• Added Duplicate List and Contents menu option
• Added a column in the data list for waypoint category name
• Added map context menu option to search for the most recently used search category
• Improved response time when populating the list of Birdseye providers
• Changed how nearest area results are displayed on the map when hovering
• Changed to ask if the waypoint should be shared between routes when splitting a route
• Changed to preserve the settings in the print page settings dialog
• Fixed problem with marine heights being displayed incorrectly
• Fixed issues when reading GPX files that contain invalid times
• Fixed odd rendering on newer City Navigator maps
• Fixed issues with inconsistent track stats

Post here if you have questions.

The BETA is currently only for English users.

Before using this release, back up your data.

Please post any bugs you may find here. This release is to assist us in testing with a wider user base and wider set of devices. Bugs may be present, and any feedback is welcomed.

Again, thank you for all who participate.

The processing of the search box is pretty basic when moving from the search box to the advanced views. Are you able to yield results from the top search box with just a postal code? I can with a US postal code, but postal codes in the UK are a little different.

We do have cases opened to improve the functionality of the search box and moving things to the right fields.
  • It works in the search box top right but that's not the issue. It should also work when you fill in the postcode in the address box, but it doesn't as Mario and I have explained.

In the UK the combination of postcode and house number give the full address. That's all that you need to enter on a nuvi, Garmin handheld etc. Basecamp should do the same.

I have received your files and we have been reviewing them. I apologize for not posting sooner. We are looking into your issue.

I wonder whether you have made any progress?

These files were sent over a month ago, on the 21 August. The same situation arose with the files I provided in respect of 4.3.5: I received no substantive reply.

If the answer is simply 'not us', please say, and I will look elsewhere. Likewise, if (a) the problem is recognised; and / or (b) a solution is still being sought, it would be helpful to know which.

    TIA

We are still looking into this issue.

Are you having any issues installing the application? Do you get any errors when that occurs?

You might try the steps in this article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/en-us

If you are installing fine, have you tried re-installing .NET? If you need help with this I can provide steps. We believe that it is .NET that is failing, and not BaseCamp.

By the way, I thought I had responded to you earlier. We had some lost posts. It's possible that post got lost as well. I apologize for that, and I hope that the article in my previous post, or a re-installation of .NET will help. If it does not, contact me privately on the boards and I will attempt to work with you more closely.

As indicated in my message under reply, other than your acknowledgment on 27 August, I have received no response, substantive or otherwise to the files sent on 22 August.

On your query whether you had responded to me earlier, if you are Jason, you made the same suggestion of reinstallation and reinstalling .Net Framework in private support emails concerning 4.3.5. I pointed out (a) that I had already carried out all the steps advised on more than one occasion before seeking support AND I listed all those steps in my initial email; and (b) as regards the re-installation of .Net Framework I pointed out (as was made clear in my initial messages) that I was using Windows 8.1 and, having researched the point, that it was my understanding that (unlike Win 7 which I also use) .Net Framework was integral to that OS and could not be uninstalled. I therefore invited correction and, if appropriate, accepted the offer of help.

There was no reply to that mail of 5 August, or the reminder query of 8 August, or the further follow up of 15 August.

I therefore abandoned 4.3.5 and picked up again with this Beta on 21 August. My messages to Jason and in this forum set out fully the system on which I am encountering the problem and all the steps that I have taken to diagnose and remedy. If there are any further steps that you would wish me to take, please say, but if the suggestion is again to reinstall .Net Framework on Win 8.1 (or is it now 8.2 with all the patches and updates) I will need your assistance because MS don't seem to think its possible.

I look forward to your further suggestions.
