Basecamp and several maps

Is it possible to display several maps at the same time in basecamp?
What is the manipulation to display 2 or 3 cards at the same time?

I do mountain biking in France and Germany, and when I make my route in basecamp, I like to have a global view of the maps.

Thank you

No, it is not possible. BaseCamp (and MapSource before it) can only display one map product at once.
  • What is your reason for wanting to show more then one map at a time? I'm curious.

I live near Germany and therefore I regularly ride between France (Topo France Pro V3) and Germany (Topo Germany V6).
To prepare my track in basecamp, I think it is not very convenient to play between different maps.

It's the same thing when I'm in holiday (France Alps and Switzerland Alps).

Perhaps, this should be in a new version of Basecamp ?

Lots of people develop overlay maps. These are maps without a background. Typically, these overlays are trail data or elevation contours. It allows you to use the trails or contours with different road maps as desired. It works very well on the units and would be a great option for the computer as well. I can post links to many examples if you like.
  • Please do. I can open an inquiry case and see if this maybe gets traction. I can't guarantee but I can at least get the question to the right people.

    Allo!

It is possible to overlay two map in BaseCamp.
Just select and send with Mapsource or MapInstall the two maps you want on a USB key.
You'll have a new file named gmapsupp.img on the USB key. (Garmin folder)
Renames gmapprom.img this file. In BaseCamp both cards will overlay.

This request for multiple map display has been "on the table" for a long time.

Thank you, I will test this solution.
But my usb key (16GB) is read as a key to 4GB.
    Is this normal?

Make that a V..E..R..Y looooonnnnnggggg time.

The ability to display transparent overlays on top of a regular map has been requested over and over again since the Mapsource days; long before Basecamp was even a gleam in anyone's eye.

It was asked for ... BEGGED for ... when Basecamp's development was first announced. Please recall that Basecamp was originally being developed specifically for handhelds (offroad activities like biking/hiking). This is where the ability to use transparent overlays has the greatest need/value.

If you go back through the many wishlists posted in here over the years, the ability to display transparent overlays has always been high on those lists. Falagar has assured us on multiple occasions that it is in the que and that the only issue is how to do it, not whether to do it.

Are we now being told that it's not even in the que and we're starting from scratch in trying to even get it in front of the devs again????????? :(
