Basecamp hangs when importing GPX files

I have a bunch of GPX files, which came with a motorcycle route book.
When I try to import these into Basecamp, it just hangs on the importing data dialog.

It's not that there is something wrong with the GPX files.
When I, for example, import file 1 first, this works but then file 2 just lets BC hang.
When I try file 2 first, it works again.

Any ideas?

Hello Steven,

So do you now have both 1 and 2 in BaseCamp?

Do they show on the map as 2 different tracks?

Sometimes I can get file 1 and 2 in BC, but then file 3 fails or 4....

I have 30 GPX files to import, so this doesn't work when it behaves this random.

Can you attach files 1 and 2 and 3 to another post here?

I can check them with other software and let you know what the problem is.

The problem is the format.

1 is a route with 4600+ waypoints. That is huge and I converted it to a TRACK.

2 is a route with 1600+ waypoints that were the same names as the first 1600 in 1. That is a huge conflict because there can be no duplicate waypoint names in BaseCamp.
I converted 2 to a TRACK.

3 is already a TRACK and I renamed it so you would know which ones are good.

Tracks will import easily into BaseCamp and you can create your own route to follow your roads on your software with just a few waypoints.

Also some devices will load and navigate tracks.

You can use http://www.gpsies.com/convert.do to convert routes to tracks yourself or send me the other 27 files.

Thanks for the tip. Converted all files on GPSies, and the import went fine after that.

Congrats and enjoy GPSies. It is a great program that I use a lot.
Send them a few bucks....its worth it. :)
