Inverting a route creates a different route

Basecamp 4.3.5, Windows7:

I have successfully, after much trial and error, created a route on back roads, side roads, and gravel roads (but not actually off-road).

When I Invert that route in Basecamp, it picks a different route. If I invert that new route, it creates yet another different route. There are no one-way streets involved along the route, no blockages, no on/off ramps.

I am using "Car" profile, with all avoidances turned Off. I have lowered my average speeds to what could be expected on gravel roads. I have even tried a profile of "None".

I don't want "Shortest" or "Fastest" - I want it to use the roads that I have picked! I even tried "Motorcycle" in the hope that the "Curvy Roads" option would help. It doesn't.

Slightly related issue is that when I send this to my Nuvi 2555, I have to turn Off all avoidances in the nuvi (I would have "Gravel" and "Highway" ticked to Avoid normally), or else it will change the route yet again. i.e. nuvi 2555 is not "honouring" the Basecamp route, although I have read elsewhere that it should.

Thanks to anyone that can get me back on track.

    Hello GK,

Here is what I do to beat BaseCamp into submission and do what I want. WinXP and BaseCamp 4.2.5

I use waypoints and set one at the beginning and one at the end of my route and let BaseCamp make the route.
If I do not like it I play with the profile to see how close it will get to what I want. I find "Truck" works pretty good for me.
When the route goes into an area I do not want I put a waypoint on a road I want and recalculate to see what happens.
If it helps I move it around a bit to get the best route then find the next area I want changed and add a waypoint to a road I want, etc.

I have made many routes this way getting exactly what I want with minimal waypoints.

If you invert the route and it changes then you need to add waypoints like before until it is what you want. Then invert it back and forth and it should stay the same.

Also very important is that the map you use in BaseCamp must be the exact same map as in your device or the route will probably change because routes depend on the map the device is using.

I just don't understand why, having built a route exactly as I want it, Basecamp wants to change it when I Invert.

Not sure if this is applicable in your case but when placing via's/waypoints to shape routes they can be accidentally placed on divided roads/highways. Reversing such a route can result in all sorts of weirdness.

I zoom in on any such via's/waypoints to ensure they're correctly placed or create new via's/waypoints for the inverted route.
