Hi, apologies if the question is very silly, but how do I download my courses from my Forerunner 910xt and load it to BaseCamp and viceversa? Any direction will be really appreciated.
Every time you use the ANT your files are stored on your computer in a hidden folder. Enable viewing of "hidden files" on your computer. Then search for a folder named GARMIN. Inside GARMIN should be more folders > Devices > a 10 digit number name > Activities.
Activities will have all your files. Make a shortcut to the Desktop for easy access.
Open BaseCamp > Right click My Collection > New List Folder > Name it 910XT Files.
Highlight the "910XT Files" folder.
Go up top and click > File > Import into 910XT Files > Browse to the Desktop and double click the "Activities" shortcut you made > all your files popup and you can import them one at a time by double clicking each file.
Yes you can import to your 910XT....BUT....not with BaseCamp. BaseCamp only connects with devices that use a USB cable.
I do not have a 910XT, I have a 310XT.
In the distant past, before Garmin Express, I used Garmin Training Center and ANT Agent to get my Tracks off my 310 and transfer Courses to my 310. I found that trying to follow a Course on my 310 was very difficult and navigating was even worse. Took all the fun out of going somewhere, always trying to see the tiny screen instead of looking where I was going, punching buttons trying to restart navigation and sometimes losing the track I was trying to record in the first place.
So....I recommend you print a paper map of your friends course to use with your 910 or get an Edge that will do a fine job of navigating a new course :)
If you really want to try Courses you can use Garmin Connect with Garmin Express. Manually Upload your friends activity to Connect and then export it as a course to your 910.
I had a 305, then a 310XT and now the 910XT. I LOVED them all! :-)
You are right, the last time I managed to download courses was on the 305. I have navigated on the 310XT on courses that I created from previous runs, and found it amazingly useful, as it would beep when you were off track. I don't use it for "major" navigating. It is more for running when you know the way 90%..... and the Garmin just helps when you are not sure of a turn!
With the 910XT, I have tried in Training Centre, I click download and it says it is downloading workouts and then it just hangs..... any ideas? You don't seem to be able to select which course you want to download, or am I doing something wrong?
Just as an observation, I must say I preferred the 305 link via a cable. The Ant stick seem to be more of a problem than it is worth.
Just guessing here....if you have Express installed that is a problem. You must uninstall Express completely and also uninstall ANT Agent.
Then download a fresh copy of ANT Agent v2.3.4 and install it and pair your 910.
In Training Centre you right click an activity in History Tab then left click "Create Course From Activity", it automatically jumps to the Courses Tab.
In the Courses Tab you can rename the new course using Right click > Edit.
In Courses Tab up top click File > Send To Device > It asks if you want to send Workouts first, pick one or click Cancel > Now it asks which Courses you want to send :)
I typed a small mistake in my last post and corrected it here.
"In Courses Tab up top click File > Send To Device > It asks if you want to send Workouts first, pick one or NONE AND CLICK OKAY > Now it asks which Courses you want to send."
And yes you can pick just 1 course.
You must go to the 310 to delete old courses first > mode > Training > enter > Courses > enter > Delete All.
Then you can add a new course. Memory is shared with all files together.
If the course (or courses) uses more that 50% of memory you will not have room left to record your data while following the course.
