U.S. TOPO 100K won't load in BaseCamp.

Getting this error message each time I open BaseCamp:

"An error occured when attempting to use the TOPO U.S. 100K Map Product."

I have had the problem a couple times before and was able to delete the cache and re-load the map. That was a pain but at least it worked! I cannot locate the path for that file on my PC any longer. The name/location may have changed with the latest update?

I have an Oregon 450T running version 6.0. I am running BaseCamp 4.3.5. I have tried un-installing and re-installing BaseCamp. Nothing seems to be working.

BaseCamp is basically worthless (to me) without the maps. Thanks!

    The cache location is

    WinXP

    C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Application Data\Garmin\BaseCamp\ProductDataCache

    Vista/Win7/Win8

    C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\Garmin\BaseCamp\ProductDataCache

The cache shouldn't normally get corrupted. Since the maps are on your device (vs PC) I can only think you have USB issues and/or are unplugging your device without safely "ejecting" it first. In other words don't just unplug the USB cable click on the device icon in the Windows taskbar and use "eject" first.

PS: You could always create a "clone device" (Google it) on a removable drive (USB stick, SD card etc) and use that instead of your unit.

Thank you very much. I don't know why I couldn't track down the folder after searching and searching but finally did find it. (Windows Vista).

I will try to do better with the un-plugging and look into the clone device as recommended. Thank you again. At least this thread is preserved for the next time I have the problem!!

Well after a two-day hike I was excited to get home and download the data. Surprise, no TOPO 100K.

I deleted the ProductDataCache but this time the work-around didn't work. That is, I deleted the file yet the TOPO maps won't load in BaseCamp. I just get the same error message.

I un-installed BC, re-booted, etc. No result. Any ideas?

Got a reply from Garmin tech. Said to make sure I had the most current version of BC then try again. They said if that didn't work to uninstall the maps from the control panel.

    What does that mean?!?!?!
