URGENT: Recovering BaseCamp database

Hey,

I recently sent my laptop to maintenance and its HDD was formatted, which was an unfortunate mix up on their end.

Due to this I lost my BaseCamp 4.2 database files, specifically AllData.gdb, AllData.gdb.bak and FolderData.gfi, FolderData.gfi.bak, but I was able to restore them with certain data recovery programs. In doing so the files seemed to be in excellent condition with no corruption, but problems arose when I moved them back to their folder (C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp\Database\4.2) after reinstalling BaseCamp. The following error happens upon start-up:

"BaseCamp Initialization
Cannot load the the following areas: List data file"

The files can be found on my Google Drive since I can't attach files over 1mb to this post.

Can someone please help me out with this?

Latest BC version is 4.3.5 which will be looking for a folder 4.3 for it's data. Which BC version are you running? If it's 4.3.x try renaming the folder 4.3.

Well in that case it should be working if those files were originally working in 4.2, I suspect they may be corrupted if it's not. You could try removing AllData.gdb and FolderData.gfi then renaming the back up files by removing the .bak and see if those files work?

Sounds like a variation on the "smart lists" problem in one of the former releases. If there was a smart-list in the data-base when upgrading you gt that error. The file would still open and all the data was there, just no lists.

You might want to try going back a release or two and trying to open your files with them.
