Waypoint Flags Mask Route. How Remove?

Ive created a route using BaseCamp and downloaded to the Garmin.......in my case a 855. When trying to view the entire route on the 855 it is hidden behind a mass of waypoint flags.........I cannot see the route. How does one turn off the waypoint flags in the GPS or manipulate Basecamp so that waypoint flags are not displayed on the device?

I tried to take a photo of the 855 screen so you can see what Im trying to describe.

All the points with flags that mask the route are "via points" and their are only 3 waypoints. I turned off the "alert on arrival" for each via point hoping that might remove the flags on the Nuvi 855 but it did not. Any thoughts?

Your 855 doesn't accept 'do not alert on arrival' so it won't matter if that is on or off. Unfortunately it also inserts a flag when you send the normal waypoint icon in Basecamp (bear in mind Basecamp was originally designed to work with handhelds so often there is unexpected behaviour when working with other devices). GPS vary as to how they treat the codes sent by Basecamp, so all I can suggest is that you experiment with different Basecamp icons for the waypoints and see what effect that has on the ones that show on your nuvi. There may be someone here with a 855 that can advise which work, but if not it's down to trial and error I'm afraid.

Thannkyou. On the handhelds....is there one that would provide turn by turn directions via voice for streets and also provide an audio jack output for ear buds? I would consider moving to something else more current if it had audio output jack. What about software? Is there another that would allow me to design exact street routes that may be more compatible with 855. I only have 855 for the audio jack. None of the newer ones have an audio jack.

Most handhelds do not speak turn by turn directions, the only one that does AFAIK is the Montana. Some info here http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=308588. It also has an audio jack. Downside is the cost!

I'm not sure why you're now commenting on other software that would allow you 'to design exact street routes that may be more compatible with 855'. Basecamp will do that and no other software could be 'more compatible' in that respect. Are you also having an issue with routing? If so what?

The Montana 600 Series and the Monterra have Audio Out jacks and both support City Navigator spoken navigation prompts.
