• Thanks.
Here's what I tried before doing the uninstall-reinstall:
I noticed that although I was getting the message 'There was an error creating this route', an actual route was being created. So I looked at that route, and what it is doing is creating a short 225ft route directly from the start point of the track, to the end point of the track. When I created the track, I deliberately did not create the start and end points at exactly the same location. They are only 225ft apart.
That seemed really weird.

So then I backed up, uninstalled, and reinstalled 4.3.5. Same result.

So I started trying different activity profiles.
I was using Motorcycling, with some custom routing options. I reset the activity options for motorcycling, and then tried again. Same result.
Then I tried creating a route from the track using Direct, Walking, ATV, and Dirt Biking. Every one of them displayed the 'Track Conversion Options' pop-up, asking me to enter the maximum number of via points to create. I left the 'Choose the number of points automatically' checkbox checked. Bam...the route was created successfully and correctly for every one of those other activity profiles. Using the Motorcycling activity profile did NOT display this pop-up.
So that got me thinking that maybe I have messed up the Motorcycling activity profile (which is the only one I really need since it is all I use my Montana 600 for). But should the uninstall-reinstall not have fixed that up?

I then went on to try creating the route from the track with the Trucking activity profile, and it did the exact same thing as the Motorcycling activity profile. It also did NOT display the 'Track Conversion Options' pop-up. I have never touched any settings or used the Trucking profile before.
Mmmmm. Interesting. So it seems that whenever I am using an activity profile that pops up the 'Track Conversion Options' pop-up, creating the route from the track works just fine. But when I do the same thing using an activity profile that does NOT pop up the 'Track Conversion Options' pop-up, it fails to create the route properly.
Another thing I noticed is that for every route that was succesfully created, the icon in the left 'Library/navigation' pane is simply the Direct icon. The icon does not contain the image with a truck/motorcycle/car/etc. When I double click on any successfully create route, the activity profile in the window that opens up (with the columns for Symbol, Via Point Name, Distance, Time, etc) shows Direct. It does NOT show the activity profile that was used when I tried to create the route from the track.

So the logical questions are:
1. What causes the 'Track Conversion Options' pop-up to appear?
2. Why do the unsuccessful routes not show up as being created with the correct activity profile?

I have attached GPX files for a successfully create route, and for an improperly created route, in case that is of any use to you.

Thanks again for the help. Sorry about the long post.

• "File is corrupt" here, too.

No previous version installed, tried several download sources for 4.3.5. Language for computer is German, software should be english (this link:http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435)

edit: Same problem with 4.2.5 and older versions.

• I try agian, seems there are many things to discuss, but i still wonder if any one knows my problem, ore that someone from Garmin will read this and answere. My local Garmin (Norway) sys they can't do anything about the software (understand that offcourse)

New update, but i still miss something from and older version, 4.3.3 or what it is.

I really miss the option that I could see all the trips on a sertian track when i hold the mouse over it.
Eks. on a road i have ride/walked 5-6-7 times, and have adjusted the tracks so they lay on eachother. Old verison I could then see a box whith all the tracks, and then click on the wanted track. That is not possioble now.

Sorry for my bad english. Anyone understand?
• Can you please tell me which CN map you are using? And an example address?
• Just got back from a 7 day motorcycle ride using my Zumo 660 and routes created with Basecamp 4.3.5. The only issue I had was sporadic "recalculating" events. If I drove off route I got the normal prompt for recalculation. But about a dozen times I had the unit simply say "recalculating" without warning. I canceled the routing, reloaded the route and continued on. I didn't want to trust that the 660 would come up with the same route I created and loaded via Basecamp.

Anyone from Garmin have any idea why this would be happening?
• Can you please tell me what map you are using on that zumo? And could you please send me your GPX file that has your route to [email protected] This will allow us to better look into your issue.

• 4.3.5 Nits

Just jumped from 4.2.5 to 4.3.5. Install went fine from BC "check for updates" command. I expected to have to “restore from previous version…”, but the install seemed to do that for me. A couple of things though:

1. In the lower data pane, setting the sort to ”by name” is not kept between sessions, when you re-open it reverts to "by symbol". Even just swapping map and data views will screw up the sort order. I think this had been fixed in 4.2.5 but maybe I saw this on-and-off problem mentioned as having returned on a previous 4.3.x version thread, but assumed it should have been corrected by this one?

2. Love the “snap-to intersection” behavior! This has been requested by us old MapSource users for years now, nice it’s finally here, thanks! Odd behavior, though – with the hand or select tool active, as you move the mouse around, the snap-to locations will show in a semi-transparent window as expected, but if you single-click anywhere, that behavior goes away. If you then double-click anywhere, it returns to its original behavior. Is that intended? Not very intuitive how that works…

3. At intersections, the spaces before and after the word “and” are missing, so it will say, for example, “Clark StandArdmore Ave”. Surely an oversight in the text concatenation department… So intersections used as shaping points show this odd way in route properties as well. A simple correction for the next minor update?

BC has made great strides since 3 years ago, thanks!
• Your first issue is a known issue. But thank you for letting us know.

Glad you are enjoying the snap-to feature! Thanks for the feedback on that!

Can you send me screenshots of your issue with the text? You can post them here or send them to me privately. I'd like to have us take a look at that.
• I can't seem to snip a screen shot of the hover behavior since when I move the mouse off the intersection to do the snip, even the whole window, it goes away. But here's what the route properties looks like, the text looks the same on the screen. The first shaping point was added by a previous BC version, the second one I just added using 4.3.5. (BTW, my "enter" key does not insert a line return in this forum reply editor, but works fine everywhere else, anyone else experiencing this?) ...edit - text, not test
